WHAT IS A PA?
A physician assistant is considered an “allied health professional.”  This means that I have been trained similarly to a physician and am capable of providing routine care in the clinic.  This can include talking to you and taking your history, examining you, ordering x-rays and other tests, writing prescriptions for medications and physical therapy as appropriate, applying and removing casts, and removing your sutures or staples.  I also assist Dr. Irby during his surgeries and try to field most phone calls pertaining to your care.

Sometimes you may be scheduled to see me in the office instead of Dr. Irby.  Other times, you may see both of us during the same visit.  Dr. Irby and I work as a team to provide you with the best health care experience possible.
